The Grintec K2 grinding aid is designed specifically for the unique characteristics of Japanese plane irons. Compared to Western plane irons, Japanese plane irons are much shorter and thicker. The thickness tapers from the rear end towards the bevel. Additionally, the sides are not always parallel. Due to the lateral bevel on the blade, the cutting edge is narrower than the body of the plane iron. These features present a special challenge in the construction of a honing guide. With this grinding guide, you can make all the presettings, especially the bevel angle, easily using an included template before inserting the iron. After inserting the iron, fine adjustments can still be made, ensuring that you always achieve the desired result.
