The centerpiece of this complete set for sharpening knives and other tools is a hollow, internally braced, and thus extremely stable plastic carrier in the shape of a triangular prism. Mounted on this are three different water stones based on corundum that cover the usual sharpening tasks. They have medium hardness and should be soaked for about 5 to 15 minutes before use. Add a little water as needed:
- Coarse sharpening: grit 800, green
- Fine sharpening: grit 2000, blue
- Honing: grit 5000, white
To prevent any doubts about the grit, the specifications are clearly visible on each side of the carrier. Depending on the sharpening task, it is inserted into the corresponding precisely fitting recess in the holder, ensuring no wobbling!
The plastic holder, with surface-friendly, non-slip feet, is designed as a tray where the resulting grinding slurry can flow off and be collected. This effectively counteracts contamination of the surface, whether it’s the kitchen countertop or the sink’s draining area.
With the included flattening stone, the surface can be refreshed, and after some time of use, the flatness can be improved.
The knife sharpening guide completes the set and enables a certain consistency of the bevel. Depending on the blade width, different angles of about 15° are achieved.
