The Veritas sharpening station is a complete system for storing, using, and maintaining water stones up to 305 mm long. The stones can be stored in the sharpening station so you can immediately start sharpening your tools. The sharpening station also securely holds the stones during use and provides a platform for truing the stones. With the two holders, you can simultaneously clamp a coarse and a fine stone onto the sharpening station for use. The clamping mechanism is fully adjustable and works with the help of cam levers. The sharpening station offers ample space for the clean storage of three or more stones, with minimal evaporation.
The holders are made of stainless steel, anodized aluminum, and glass fiber reinforced plastic. The basin, made of sturdy ABS plastic, has non-slip feet to prevent movement during use. The truing system consists of a glass plate, a sheet of PSA-coated plastic laminate, and silicon carbide grit 90. The safety glass cover is guaranteed to be flat enough to true your stones with a deviation of less than 0.01 mm per cm of stone length (0.001 inch per inch). You can store your coarse stones (grit 800, 1000, or 1200) in water and keep the fine honing stones (grit 4000, 6000, or 8000) - also with a wooden stand – dry in the holder. The stones stored in water are kept away from grinding sludge by ribs at the bottom of the basin. The holders and the truing system can also be used just as well with oil stones.
