This carbon steel has a high carbon content, which significantly increases wear resistance, meaning that the sharpness is maintained for a long time. This steel is also characterized by a good balance between hardness and toughness. The fine-grained SK-5 steel is laminated with a softer carrier material made of iron and is relatively easy to sharpen compared to alloyed Western steels.
