Product information
This miter box is not fixed to a single angle. The stop is adjustable from a right angle up to 60° in both directions. A spring-loaded pin locks in at 0°, 18°, 22.5°, 25.7°, 30°, 36°, 45°, and 60°. This allows you to quickly and precisely set the stop for right angles and miters for ten-, eight-, seven-, six-, five-, four-, and triangular frames. All angles in between can be adjusted using a clamp operated by an adjustable handle. The stop features a slot where you can attach a homemade auxiliary stop made of wood. This prevents tear-out on the workpiece by supporting it from behind.
The 610mm long guide for the plane fits both the Veritas shooting planes (Order No. 325030, 325031, 325032, 325033) and the sanding block for the shooting board (Order No. 325150). The guide is 9.5mm deep and can be adjusted to widths between 51mm and 63mm. Clamping screws prevent the outer stainless steel guide from shifting during planing. Strips of low-friction UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) allow the plane to glide smoothly. The stop and guide are mounted on a 292 mm wide, 610 mm long, and 19 mm thick Baltic birch plywood board. A strip on the underside of the board holds the miter box against the edge of the workbench.
The stop is cast from a durable zinc-aluminum alloy, and the other components are made of steel or brass.
The plane is not included in the delivery.
