Product information
This sanding block features a sole that is 54 mm wide and stands perpendicular to the sanding surface. This makes the sanding block fit perfectly into the track of a shooting board, allowing you to sand workpieces precisely at right angles and to exact dimensions. Compared to planing, sanding significantly reduces the risk of thin workpieces or those with tricky grain patterns splitting or tearing out. You can even work on painted strips without any issues.
The wooden handle is angled so that you can apply pressure evenly on the sole and the sanding surface. You can slide it along the entire length of the sanding block and secure it in the desired position with a simple twist. The body of the sanding block is made of black anodized, extruded aluminum. It fits any homemade shooting board for the Veritas shooting plane and has a 6.3 mm high edge on the underside of the sanding surface to prevent it from widening the guide of the shooting board.
The package includes six 32 mm wide self-adhesive sanding strips—two each in grits 120, 180, and 220. The abrasive is made of aluminum oxide with a zinc stearate coating (this significantly reduces the adhesion of sanding dust).
A simple and amazingly useful tool.
