Shooting Plane with
O1 Blade for Righthanders VERITAS

Product information
The weight of this plane, combined with its length and low center of gravity, makes it both stable and effective. Weighing 3.5kg (7-3/4 lb) and measuring 400 mm (16 inches) in length, this plane is a heavyweight. You will greatly appreciate its assertiveness when shooting.
The body is made of stress-relieved, ductile cast iron. The sole and the running surface are machined flat and square to each other. With a width of 54 mm (2-1/8 inches), the running surface matches the classic Stanley #52 shooting board. With the help of the three set screws, you can adjust the blade precisely perpendicular to the workpiece, compensating for small inaccuracies in your wooden shooting board.
When you loosen the brass locking knob, you can adjust the mouth of the plane. A set screw prevents the movable front piece from touching the blade. The set screw also allows you to easily find a setting again, for example, when you open the mouth wide to remove shavings. You can adjust the rear handle to use it comfortably, whether you are using the plane with the sole down or with the sole to the side.
The bed for the blade is angled at 20°. This reduces resistance when planing and ensures a clean cut when working with end grain. The angle of the bed is 12°. Together with the 25° bevel angle—where the bevel of the blade faces upward—a cutting angle of 35° is achieved.
The package includes a lapped blade made of O1 steel or PM-V11 steel. PM-V11 is particularly suitable for small bevel angles. The 57 mm (2-1/4 inches) wide blades are the same as those in other low-angle planes from Veritas. The Norris-style adjustment mechanism allows you to adjust the blade both finely and precisely and to adjust it laterally.
The Veritas shooting plane is available in versions for both right-handed and left-handed users.
