Scraper plane irons, irons for mini planes, or violin maker’s irons are often too small for honing guides and were therefore difficult to sharpen. This holder for small irons solves this problem. The iron is held in place by two strong magnets on the underside of the holder. An adjustable stop secures the iron against slipping. Effectively, the short iron is transformed into something longer (38 mm wide and 102 mm long) that can be clamped into any honing guide, including the Veritas MK.II Standard Sharpening System, just like a long iron. Of course, you can also sharpen freehand with it. This is considerably more convenient than having to hold the small iron in your hand for sharpening.

The supplied longer screw and washer are intended for mounting on the old Veritas honing guide (no longer available).
