Often, the safe and accurate sharpening of short or narrow irons is a challenge, no matter how experienced you are. Irons from scraper planes, small block planes, and detail hand planes are too small for most sharpening aids. This sharpening guide for short blades from VERITAS is designed to be so flexible that it can securely hold narrow irons where other aids reach their limits.
Irons up to a width of 66mm (2 5/8") can be quickly clamped for sharpening with a 25° or 30° cutting angle using the included setting gauge. The adjustable holders keep the iron securely at the correct angle. While most of these irons can only be sharpened with a primary bevel, even a micro bevel can be easily added with the included plastic shim.
