The blade made from carbon steel (T10) is hardened to 61 – 63 HRC. Incidentally, the same steel used in our Juuma planes was used. The oak handles are without ferrule to allow the blades to be guided more comfortably by hand or struck with the palm. Even without a ferrule, the oak handles can withstand light to medium blows with a wooden mallet. The handles are colorless matte lacquered and slightly flattened on two sides to prevent rolling away.
