Water stones based on corundum with a tendency towards a slightly softer texture, increasingly so with finer grits. The surface can be easily flattened with appropriate measures.
The stones provide good feedback. Slurry forms quickly, and in a short time, the surface color changes from „white” to „black”, reflecting the significant material removal. Suitable for all steels. Even PM-V11 might „lose its terror” for some users. Smooth grinding feel without seeming scratchy.
To prevent warping of the stones, they are equipped with a tempered glass plate. Grit indication on the backside of the stones, secured by the glass plate. In terms of water requirement, a „splash-and-go” stone. This means long pre-soaking is not necessary; usually, wetting the surface at the beginning of work, followed by a light additional splash, is sufficient. We advise against prolonged soaking sessions, as this can lead to the formation of hairline cracks, similar to those that can occur with NANIWA Professional/Chocera stones. However, due to the glass base, there’s no risk of the stone breaking apart. In further use, it’s more of a cosmetic issue, with no expected impact on sharpening results. Store dry at all times!

For a complete setup in the area of sharpening and honing, not all 5 stones are necessarily required; even with 3 of them, one can be very well served. Delivery includes a non-slip mat!
