By choosing leather that is not too soft and sufficiently robust, the blade does not sink in too deeply under stronger pressure, thus preventing the edge from becoming rounded.
Irregularities in the surface quality of the natural leather product should be accepted, as they generally do not affect the end result, a sharp edge.
Includes a hole for hanging on a nail or screw, or for attaching a strap. The handle area can be made more comfortable to use by further breaking the edges.
