Product information
The achieved sharpness is significantly higher than with its predecessor grit.
BESTER sharpening stones from the manufacturer Imanishi in Kyoto offer a grinding feel almost like natural stones. BESTER sharpening stones have medium hardness, do not require an excessive amount of water, and allow for a swift sharpening process. You can hear and feel that a substantial material removal is taking place, and when you then look at the blade, you will be amazed by the amount. The stone responds quite directly to the user’s actions – anyone who has rubbed on stones and did not notice any change on a blade or could not develop a feel for what was happening will appreciate this greatly.
The wear of the stone and the associated hollow grind are relatively low. You should soak it for about 5 minutes. The coarser stones sometimes require a splash of water after a few minutes, which is rewarded with higher grinding speed. Suitable for both carbon steels and stainless steels. The grits 400, 4000, and 8000 are somewhat harder than the grits 700, 1000, 1200, and 2000. The size specifications are only approximate; most of the Bester sharpening stones are a few mm larger.
