The two independently adjustable rods of this marking gauge allow you to set two measurements simultaneously. This enables you to quickly switch between the two measurements when marking or transferring repetitive measurements.
Projections of up to 146 mm can be easily set, as an internal O-ring provides light but constant friction on each rod. A knurled screw locks the setting in place. The hardened steel cutter wheels mark perfectly at every point along their circumference. Because they cut the wood fibers rather than tear them, the marks are very clean—even across the grain. The cutting wheels are arranged so that the bevels face in opposite directions. This ensures that the bevel can always be positioned to face the side that is to be sawn off.
On one rod, the cutting wheel is located right at the end. This is useful when you want to measure the depth of mortises or shoulders, for example. Each cutting wheel can be retracted into the brass stop to protect it during transport or to use the marking gauge with only one cutting wheel. The eccentric arrangement of the rods provides a large contact surface and prevents the tool from rolling away.
