CLIFTON from Sheffield continues the tradition of finely crafted English bench planes from the company EDWARD PRESTON & SONS of Birmingham.
The plane iron bed, the mouth, and the sole are precisely crafted. The mouth is tight, making the Clifton rebate planes highly recommended for very fine work.
It is a pleasure to work with it. Especially in hard-to-reach places where the normal power transmission from hand to tool is limited, this plane performs excellently.
The plane bodies are made from fine grey cast iron and are therefore not stainless, so they should be lightly oiled if stored for a longer period.
The 3-variant rebate plane 3110 from CLIFTON is an extremely versatile plane. Two differently long heads are removable or interchangeable. This allows you to choose between a large rebate plane or, by attaching the short head, one that can almost reach into corners.
Finally, without the heads, you have a fully functional corner rebate plane. Several spacer plates allow for mouth adjustment for coarser work.
The individual parts can be swapped in a flash, which allows for very quick and pleasant work despite the variety of options. The fine adjustment of the iron is done via a screw.
