Hollow adze with handle
BEAVERCRAFT

Product information

With a surface left by forging that appears archaic, this pleasantly top-heavy hollow adze can be used both single-handedly and with both hands.

The head, made from carbon steel 1066, features pronounced „ears” that provide a larger contact area with the handle. It is hardened to 56-58 HRC in the cutting edge area, offering a good balance between edge retention and chipping resistance. The remaining scale layer provides a degree of corrosion protection.

The already comparatively attractive grind with a bevel angle of around 30° offers a good starting point for achieving final sharpness.

The ergonomically shaped handle made of ash is treated with linseed oil and wax for better durability, which also beautifully highlights the wood grain. A hole has been made at the end of the handle, allowing a lanyard to be threaded through, or the adze can be hung on a nail or screw after the work is done. The handle is secured with a wooden wedge and additionally with a brass wedge.

For safe storage or transport, a robust leather sheath is included, and a leather holster allows the adze to be carried on a belt.
