In function, almost identical to the previous Clear-Cut Stock Guides made of metal, the main body of the Clear-Cut Flex Stock Guides is made from high-quality glass fiber reinforced polyamide, which also results in a lower price. Additionally, the height adjustment is now fixed using adjustable clamping levers. Included in the delivery: Mounting kit for a self-built fence, consisting of 4 screws and 2 metal plates that ensure the correct distance between the mounting screws.

Functionality:

The unique guide rollers of this hold-down device are set at a 5° angle, so they automatically lead the workpiece to the fence. Your workpiece is pressed firmly against the fence, and the urethane rollers hold it securely in place.

When the workpiece is guided to the fence by the hold-down device at a slight angle, it is important that the guide rollers do not roll backward. This is especially critical when cutting grooves, as otherwise, the workpiece could unintentionally run into the cutter. To prevent this and the kickback of the workpiece, each of the guide rollers is equipped with a one-way bearing (a needle bearing that only rotates in one direction – the feed direction).

The hold-down device from JessEm fits all fences with a 6.4 mm (1/4 inch) T-slot (e.g., those from INCRA). They have an adjustment range of 70 mm (2-3/4 inch). The maximum workpiece thickness is 14.3 mm (9/16 inch) less than the distance from the surface of your router table to the center of the T-slot where the hold-down devices are mounted.

The rollers of the hold-down devices are made from cold-rolled steel and additionally hardened for longer durability. The adjustment screws are made of stainless steel, and the rollers are coated with a wear-reducing resin that also has a low friction coefficient. The friction rings on the rollers are cast from urethane, making them durable and ensuring a good grip on the workpiece.

The hold-down devices are quick and easy to adjust. They are fixed to the desired position along the fence with a turn of the axle screw. The height is then adjusted with the clamping screw.

With this hold-down, there is no longer any reason to struggle to press long boards against the fence – the guide rollers handle that for you. Simply slide your workpiece under the hold-down devices. These then automatically pull the workpiece to the fence while you hold the other end.

You have everything under control, even when working with wide or long boards. The hold-downs pull the workpiece firmly against the fence. This ensures safe, smooth, and precise milling since your workpiece is always automatically held in the correct position.
