Japanese Carving Tools

The blades of the chisels from the KAWASEI forge are made of laminated Aogami steel (Blue Steel), which has an excellent edge retention. The handle is made of beech wood and fits very comfortably in the hand.

These chisels should not be struck, levered, or used for drilling. They are also suitable for beginners, as the chisels are very robust.

Important Note: As with all Japanese carving tools, the cutting steel is very hard and can therefore break more easily than softer steel.
