Product information
Micro-mesh sanding and polishing cloths are characterized by extremely long durability and unique sanding properties. Between the abrasive aluminum oxide and the fabric backing, there is a layer of latex. This embedding allows for high mobility of the aluminum oxide, providing optimal adaptation to the surface being sanded or polished. This prevents scratches on the surface and uneven wear of the aluminum oxide, leading to significantly longer usage duration compared to other abrasives. When used dry, Micro-mesh lasts 5-7 times longer than conventional sandpaper, and when used wet, even 7-15 times longer.
Micro-mesh is excellent for manual processing and can be used with most oils or with water. Solvents such as acetone are not suitable. Light pressure works best with Micro-mesh, as higher pressure does not enhance abrasion or sanding speed. It should only be used dry if wet sanding is excluded for material reasons. Suitable protective measures against dust should be taken, especially in machine applications.
When selecting grit sizes, a distinction should be made between the sanding process (grits 1500, 1800, 2400, and 3200) and the polishing process (grits 6000, 8000, and 12000), which no longer have a material removal effect. The medium grit 4000 has a matting effect. Micro-mesh is not suitable for coarse sanding and deep scratches. In such cases, first work with conventional sandpaper up to grit 600 to approach the coarsest Micro-mesh grit. Micro-mesh grit 1500 corresponds approximately to FEPA or EURO standard P800. More details can be found in the blog post about sanding grits.
Micro-mesh is suitable for plastic, horn, wood, many metals, and painted surfaces. This makes its applications almost unlimited: furniture repair, restoration, archaeology, acrylic parts, model making, wooden instrument making, paint processing, jewelry, boats, cell phone displays, watch glasses, and not to forget: maintenance and care of hand tools.
Delivery: We receive Micro-mesh in rolls with a width of 152 mm and cut strips of 100 mm length from it. If you want to order more than 100 mm (= 10 cm = 1 dm) of one type and want it in one piece instead of individual pieces, please note this in your order. We will then cut the desired amount from the roll for you.
