If neither the precision nor the capacity of a stationary spindle sander is required, or if there is only an occasional need, this sanding drum is a suitable option. With a 9.5 mm shaft, it can be used at a maximum of 1500 RPM in both a column drill press and a hand drill mounted in a drill stand. It is also practical for use in a cordless screwdriver or a hand drill with an additional handle.
The shaft is made of steel, and the main body is made of impact-resistant plastic with a non-slip coating. It has a diameter of 50 mm with a usable sanding height of 76 mm, which is more than sufficient for most applications. Another advantage of the generously sized sanding area is that the sanding medium can be optimally utilized with the appropriate positioning of the sanding cylinder or the workpiece, and does not need to be prematurely replaced due to wear.
The change of the already mounted 120 grit sandpaper is done with the help of a supplied key. Inserting a new piece of self-cut sandpaper is straightforward, with clamping achieved by twisting a sleeve in the core.
By configuring the sanding medium yourself, you are not limited to pre-made sanding sleeves, which are often only offered in a few grits, but you have the freedom to select and access the optimal medium as needed.
