The Clifton block plane offers a high level of comfort and style. The walnut cap fits perfectly in the hand, avoiding the usual cold metal feel associated with other block planes. The body of the plane is made from solid bronze, and with its weight of nearly 1 kg (960 g), it is likely the heaviest block plane of its size. This weight has the advantage that the plane partially does the work for you, as you don’t have to press it onto the workpiece like you would with other, lighter planes. The lateral adjustment and iron feed are operated with a single screw, whose differential thread works sensitively. The blade is ground to a 25° bevel, and the plane bed is 12°, resulting in a cutting angle of 37°.
