Product information
Anyone who has ever tried to clamp a small part in a conventional vise will appreciate the advantages of this hand vise. It is based on a model dating back to around 1880.
Accordingly, the choice of materials has been made or even improved. The main body and the movable jaw are made of cast iron with a matte black finish, while the spindle and the wrench are made of stainless steel.
The smoothly running spindle, which can even be operated with just one finger, features a cover that prevents debris such as metal shavings from contaminating it. To ensure better grip of the clamping jaws, they are not left smooth but are slightly serrated.
The well-thought-out design offers several mounting options that allow for greater freedom in positioning a workpiece:
- clamped in a larger vise or a front or tail vise
- screwed onto the edge of a workbench or plane bench, or simply „snapped in” and quickly removed through appropriately shaped openings
- inserted into a 19 mm (3/4“) bench dog hole
- or, as the name suggests, held in the hand, for example, when carving delicate parts or grinding when fingertip distance should be maintained
We believe this small hand vise also makes a great addition to the fully functional miniatures from Veritas.
