Round die for 1/2 inch water pipes
"1/2 inch water pipe" is a legacy term that is still being used today. In fact, these pipes have an outside diameter of around 21 to 21.5 mm. The thread is thus significantly bigger than 1/2 inch. BSPT is the abbreviation for "British Standard Pipe Taper" and denotes a conical outside thread. (Another frequently used abbreviation is R.) It is conical so that it forms a self-sealing joint when screwed into a matching cylindrical Whitworth inside pipe thread. You’re hardly likely to need this for connecting water pipes. We offer this item in case you need to provide an existing water pipe with an outside thread for use with our pipe clamps.
Note: Present the labelled side of the die to the pipe when machining the thread with its conical form.
1/2 inch thread (R/BSPT) x 14 mm high
