Product information
Acrylic should not be drilled with a generic drill bit, as this material is very sensitive. It can melt with heat and break easily with incorrect drill geometry. Multipurpose drill bits lift and twist the material. A special acrylic drill bit works more like a scraper, removing fine chips. With these drill bits, you can drill really clean holes in acrylic. They are particularly suitable for dimensionally accurate holes in sheets.
Max 2000 min-1 is possible, but we recommend lower speeds between 500 min-1 and 1000 min-1, as acrylic is sensitive to heat. It is also advisable to „vent” more often during deeper drilling, meaning to regularly retract the drill bit so the chips can be expelled. When drilling through material, the feed should be reduced just before breakthrough to avoid chipping. When starting the drilling, begin slowly and carefully. In serial drilling, make sure the drill bit cools down in between.
Tip angle 60°. Perfect chip removal by halving the round material in the area of the drill tip! Can also be used as a countersink by first pre-drilling with a larger drill bit and then drilling through with the smaller diameter.
