Tightly twisted flutes and wide grooves for better chip removal make these drill bits suitable for drilling long-chipping workpieces.
Aluminum is soft and poses certain challenges when drilling if you use any regular steel drill bit. An aluminum drill bit features geometry specifically designed for this material, preventing irregular holes and tearing. The workpiece should always be clamped in place when drilling. A drill stand is recommended whenever possible. Work with gentle pressure and „vent” frequently by retracting the drill bit to relieve the borehole. For larger boreholes, it is advisable to pre-drill with a smaller diameter due to the transverse cutting edge at the tip of these drill bits, and to mark the drilling position with a center punch. Oil, alcohol, or kerosene are suitable for cooling.
Additionally, this aluminum drill bit can also be used as a zinc drill bit, copper drill bit, PVC drill bit, and drill bit for solid polystyrene.
