The standout feature of this tried-and-tested design is the rotatably mounted jaws, which can be fixed in the desired position using a 21 mm wrench (not included!), or their mobility can be adjusted as needed. This allows for easy clamping of workpieces whose edges do not run parallel but are tapered. This is particularly interesting, for example, for carvers or specifically in instrument making, where the softly lined jaws allow for surface-friendly clamping. A second bonus point to note is that not only are the jaws swiveling, but the entire vise is rotatable, offering a variety of working positions.
The vise is attached using a threaded rod that is inserted through a bench dog hole or an extra drilled hole, and an oversized wing nut. Depending on the preferred working position, the „base” can be left on the benchtop or, if not needed, „parked” underneath it, thereby expanding the range of applications even further.
The main body of the vise is made of cast iron with exceptionally massive lateral steel guides. The generously sized spindle with a trapezoidal thread made of steel is also excellently crafted.
Even when there are no specific clamping tasks to tackle, this vise shines on significantly too low, older workbenches, or when even currently available variants do not allow for a comfortable and thus fatigue- and pain-free working posture.
Finished in an eye-pleasing satin to matte dark blue, tending towards anthracite, this vise stands out pleasantly from the otherwise common shock colors that unnecessarily draw attention away from the workpiece or can even be an eyesore.
In terms of material selection, workmanship, and function, it is unparalleled, truly a multifunctional and convincing clamping tool in many respects—nothing wobbles!
