With this knot repair kit, you can repair wood defects with diameters ranging from 5 mm to 25 mm. Using the dowel sharpener, shaped like an oversized pencil sharpener, the dowel is sharpened and then driven into the tapered hole created by the included drill bit. You can choose the size yourself – infinitely adjustable! Perfect for professional use.

This tool also offers creative possibilities: Choose the type of wood you want. You don’t need to use pre-manufactured, precise dowels; natural branches will suffice. You can influence the shape of the patch by holding the drill at an angle.

Instructions for Use

This quality knot repair kit is suitable for repairing knots with diameters of 5 – 25 mm. The sharpener, shaped like an oversized pencil sharpener, has a housing size of 120 × 56 × 44 mm and weighs approximately 530 grams. Therefore, ensure that you have a sufficiently powerful drill. The diameter of the shaft is 10 mm.

1. First, use the tapered drill bit to create a sufficiently large hole in the area of the defect. By angling the drill, you can influence the shape of the patch area.
2. The included ring serves as a template to help you determine the maximum diameter of the dowel or branch. The raw material, whether a branch or dowel, must fit through here.
3. Attach the sharpener to the drill and sharpen the dowel. Important: Either the drill or the round wood must be sufficiently secured! If the drill is fixed, for example, in a horizontal drill stand, feed the round workpiece with little pressure and leave it long enough to still hold comfortably with your hands.
4. Saw off the sharpened piece with a handsaw and glue it.
5. The excess can be cut off with a handsaw. The cleanest surface is achieved with a Japanese „Kugihiki,” which is a dowel saw either unsawn or only sawn on the side away from the wood surface. Then you can plane it flat with a hand plane or sand it down.
