FISCH Forstner Bits

FISCH Forstner bits with wave cutter allow a very clean and quick cut. The scalloped edge, called the "Wave Cutter" reduces the strong tendency by bits of these kinds to catch in the wood and "walk" across the work surface, often doing irreparable damage to the surface, when starting the hole with a hand-held drill. Another really nice feature is that they are made so that they can be sharpened by hand as many as 30 times before needing to be replaced. Fisch bits are made in Austria.

They are very uncomplicated to use! In our experience they cut cleanly and, kept sharp, the design also reduces the possibility of tearout when starting the hole, even if the drill speed is not optimal for the material. The FISCH Wave Cutter also needs the least pressure of any of the forstner bits to cut, and so is our recommendation for use when you must make an accurate and clean job when drilling free-handed. Less pressure when drilling freehanded means less possibility of breaking through the work piece, having the bit walk itself across the surface and other problems.
