Dozuki - Japanese Backsaw

The Dozuki is a backsaw for joints and tenons. The stiffening rib lends rigidity, resulting in very precise cuts.

Dozuki "KITSUTSUKI" - Japanese saw mainly for cross-cutting Dozuki "KITSUTSUKI"

This Dozuki from Z-Saw is noted for the fine cuts it produces and a plunging function for cuts that start on the flat surface of a workpiece. Dubbed "KITSUTSUKI", ie, "woodpecker" by the manufacturer, this features a hook-shaped saw blade end that is singularly suited for blind plunging cuts. The saw teeth are laser-hardened for a long tool life. The saw can also be used for longitudinal cuts, without possessing the speed of a dedicated rip saw.

Dozuki "Superfine" - Japanese saw for fine cross-cutting and fine ripping Dozuki "super fine"

The extraordinary clean cut of this superfine saw will delight you. The tooth pitch of 1 mm and the small saw set - just 0.4 mm for a blade thickness of 0.3 mm - are two important performance-enhancing factors. The laser-hardened saw teeth ensure a long tool life. Originally conceived as a crosscut saw by the manufacturer, it will also double as a surprisingly fast rip saw. If you are aiming for particularly neat and precise dovetail joints, then this is the saw for you.

Traditional saws with fixed blade

Shirai Sangyo Dozuki Shirai Sangyo Dozuki

These traditional saws are made by Shirai Sangyo in Sanjo, Japan. With a blade made of SK5 steel, the saw represents an excellent value in terms of price and quality. The cross-cutting teeth are only very slightly set, resulting in an extremely clean cut. This saw requires some experience. The stabilizing back is slightly curved. As such it supports the manual sawing motion, while ensuring maximum cutting depth. The shank thickens by up to 0.6 mm towards the handle made out of hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood.
