Scrapers, despite the widespread use of sandpaper, remain a useful and effective tool for fine chip removal, removing old paint layers and polishes, and not least for cleaning dirty surfaces. However, this inexpensive and ancient tool is not immediately obvious to everyone; some practice and understanding of its function are required.
Scrapers are generally not ready for use when purchased; they are merely a piece of steel sheet. A fine burr must first be drawn so they can perform their task. If you do find a burr after purchase, it is merely a by-product of cutting the steel sheets.
