Product information
These cutting wheels are designed for use with the Veritas marking gauge but also fit any other marking gauge with a shaft diameter of 7.92 mm (5/16 inch). Note: does not fit 8 mm shafts!
The cutting wheels are made from carbon steel and have a diameter of 16 mm. They cut around the entire perimeter and separate the wood fibers smoothly instead of tearing them, providing you with clean scribes. The cutting wheels have a bevel on only one side. If you mount the cutting wheels with the bevels facing the same direction, you can scribe two parallel lines simultaneously. If the bevels face each other, you can mark mortises perfectly so that the chisel engages cleanly with the scribe.
The cutting wheels are fixed on the marking gauge using the clamping screws. The minimum distance between the blades is 9.5 mm (3/8 inch). The package also includes a support ring that can be slipped over the marking gauge and attached directly to the stop. This ensures that the shaft of the marking gauge always remains parallel to the workpiece. This is particularly useful when making scribes that are far from the stop.
This Canadian-made tool includes two cutting wheels, a stop ring, an Allen key, and an instruction manual (in English).
