Product information
Double-edged tenon cutter made from a heat-treated, specially selected steel alloy for tapering a bore, as typically needed in chair making.
Primarily designed for use at up to about 500 RPM in a drill or a cordless screwdriver, this handy tool can also be used with a hand drill thanks to adapter 307820. This reduces the risk of overheating which can cause temper loss.
The cutting action of this reamer can be quite aggressive, especially with softwoods, so it’s important to proceed slowly. Sharpening can be done using a whetstone or a diamond sharpening plate. When doing so, only work on the inside surfaces of the cutting edges, never the outer surfaces!
With an angle of 12.8°, it matches the tapered tenon cutters by Veritas, which feature the same angle when used as dowel pointers.
Hex shank 5/16" (7.93mm), Taper 12.8°
