The INCRA router fences can, in principle, be mounted on any router table, including homemade ones, but there is no question that a quality router table will provide you with better results. The high precision of the INCRA router fences brings to light weaknesses in other components that may not have been noticeable with a less accurate router fence, such as an insert plate that has play in the table’s recess or reducing rings that do not fit 100%.
There are very different opinions about what material router tables should be made from: MDF, plastic, aluminum, or cast iron. However, more important than the material is the question of how the router table and mounting plate are manufactured.
The router tables from INCRA are made from a particularly flat MDF core, coated on both sides with plastic. The application of the plastic is done under high heat and pressure to achieve the highest stability and durability. The computer-controlled milled recess has 10 flat head screws that form a solid steel base for the mounting plate. The mounting plate itself can be easily adjusted from above using 10 hex socket screws. An aluminum T-slot track is installed in front of the mounting plate to accommodate crosscut and miter gauges, such as the INCRA V27 or 1000.
The mounting plate is the most important single part of any precise router fence. These 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) thick „MagnaLOCK” aluminum mounting plates fit any INCRA router table and are pre-drilled for a range of routers. If your router is not listed among the offered pre-drilled mounting plates, take the non-pre-drilled one and drill the appropriate holes yourself. The steel reducing rings rest absolutely flush with the surface of the mounting plate on 4 strong magnets, allowing for a quick change in seconds. Each mounting plate comes with 3 laser-cut reducing rings with openings of 1" (25.4 mm), 2-1/8" (54 mm), and 3-5/8" (92 mm). The mounting plate itself is held in place with an eccentric screw in one corner—1/4 turn of the screw is sufficient.
