INCRA Crosscut and Miter Gauge 1000 (Miter 1000)

The metric Hingecrafter is NOT compatible with the imperial LS Positioner! Please read the following important notes, which deviate from the user manual, as the manual is only written for the imperial version.

Tool and Material Requirements (Manual Page 2)

For this metric version, metric slot cutters are used, but you still need to use the imperial half-round cutters for the curves. Which pair of cutters to combine can be seen in the following list.

3/8" = 9.52 mm diameter (= 3/16" radius) half-round cutter with 10 mm slot cutter
1/2" = 12.7 mm diameter (= 1/4" radius) half-round cutter with 12 mm slot cutter
5/8"= 15.88 mm diameter (= 5/16" radius) half-round cutter with 16 mm slot cutter
3/4" = 19.05 mm diameter (= 3/8" radius) half-round cutter with 19 mm slot cutter

We have some of these imperial half-round cutters with a 12 mm shank, so they fit any larger router! And of course, the slot cutters too!

Unfortunately, we cannot offer the required brass rods with a diameter of 1/8 inch.

Preparing the Wood (Manual Page 3)
When you thickness plane the wood for the hinges as described on page 3, ensure that the thickness matches the diameter of the half-round cutters.

Enlarging the Hinge Leaves (Manual Page 5)
Set the router as described (Manual Fig. 9) and use the slot cutter that matches the half-round cutter you have used. Set the metric scale of your stop to a value that corresponds to the diameter of your rabbet cutter (see Figure 10 in the manual). Make sure that the routing depth is set to remove half of the material (routing depth = ½ material thickness) before you start routing. Route overlapping, moving the stop back about 6 mm after each pass until you reach the 32 mm mark on the stop (if you need hinges with very long leaves, enlarge them further).

Cutting Out the Hinge Knuckles (Manual Page 5)
Set everything as described in the manual on page 5, then insert the INCRAment template that matches the diameter of the cutter used. The metric INCRAment templates needed for cutting out the hinge knuckles are included with the Hingecrafter (Hinge Maker). Template #26 contains markings for 10 mm (blue lines) and for 12 mm hinges (red lines). Template #27 contains markings for 16 mm (blue lines) and for 19 mm (red lines) hinges. (This refers to the length of the hinge knuckles)

Create hinges in eight steps with the Hingecrafter.

1/10th° Vernier Cursor
The protractor with 180 fixed angle settings for each individual degree and additional locking points at 22.5° allows you to reliably avoid errors. An additional vernier enables an adjustment to 1/10° accuracy!

1. Stellen Sie passende Holzstücke her.

1. Create suitable wood pieces.

2. Mill the first half of the rounding (hinge rolls) – pay attention to the grain direction of the wood (work on the end grain side).

3. Complete the rounding (hinge rolls) in the second pass with the router.

4. Increase the hinge flaps.

5. Free the hinge pins.

6. Drill the hinge pins.

7. Disconnect the hinges.
