Product information
Imagine that you’ve created the ultimate jewelry box or a fantastic cabinet. Now you are – with some apprehension – facing the final step: installing the hinges.
Let’s face it: Metal hinges are a pain. It’s not so much the hinges themselves that are the problem, but rather the darn brass screws. Once you’ve finally managed to drill a hole centrally, you can be sure that the screw head will break off when driving it in. You might quite rightly wonder how many brass screw heads are glued in place rather than screwed in securely.
How can you solve this problem? Simply combine your INCRA fence (LS Positioner) with the Hingecrafter drilling guide and you get beautiful wooden hinges that you can glue directly into your project. With the metric version of the INCRA Hingecrafter, you can create hinges with diameters of 9.52 mm, 12.70 mm, 15.88 mm, and 19.05 mm. (Note: even for the metric version, you will need router bits in inch sizes)
As you can see in the pictures, the Hingecrafter is also suitable for extra-long hinges. With the four diameters and the numerous lengths possible with longer drill bits, you have hundreds of possibilities for your projects with hinges.
Even very long hinges are easy to make with the Hingecrafter. The limit here is twice the length of the drill bit. With the included drill bit, you can create hinges that are over 250 mm (10 inches) long.
Length of the included drill bit: 157 mm
Diameter of the drill bit: 3.2 mm (1/8 inch)
To assemble the two hinge halves, a brass rod with a diameter of 3.2 mm (1/8 inch) is required.
