The switch from wide to narrow workpieces is accomplished here without time-consuming cranking. The built-in quick-release mechanism is reliable and does not require an additional activation mechanism.
The vise closes either by simply turning the spindle clockwise or by first sliding the movable jaw. To open the vise, the spindle is turned counterclockwise, allowing the vise to be adjusted to the desired distance, either opened or closed.
