Heavy woodworking vises have become indispensable in many workshops. In many cases, they replace the traditional workbench. The advantage lies in their high flexibility: You attach the vise to the spot on a work surface where you really need it, rather than being fixed to a specific location like with a workbench.
Additionally, these vises are equipped with an extendable bench dog, allowing you to clamp on the surface of the workbench as well. As a complement, the round bench dogs from Veritas are recommended here. A few drilled holes in the work surface are enough to get started.
A significant relief in work is the quick-release adjustment – pull the lever and push or pull instead of cranking, cranking, cranking... This quick-release adjustment works absolutely reliably and does not compromise stability.
