The MHG chisels from the short series with oiled ash handles are now also available in an innovative blade design that allows for clean work even in deep incisions, right into the corners. This is achieved by grinding the side bevels down to the back side.
Like the other series, this series is produced using a new forging process, which gives the tools high edge retention, elasticity, and durability. With their high structure density and the quality of the heat treatment of the high-alloy material, performance characteristics are achieved that were previously reserved only for hand-forged tools. The hardness is 61 HRC (+/- 1) across the entire usable length.
The blade is ground, not polished. The handle fits very well in the hand. Both users with small and large hands praise the shape. These chisels are relatively short but still too long to simply be called butt chisels. They are close in length to Japanese chisels, known for allowing precise and delicate work due to the proximity of the working hand to the workpiece. From our perspective, these are full-fledged chisels, as long as the chiseling depth does not exceed 70 mm.
The overall length is only 205 mm, with the ground part of the back side being approximately 70 mm long. The handle diameter at its thickest point is 38 mm. Wood is a natural product, so the color and grain pattern of each handle may vary.
