A feeler gauge, also known as a feeler blade, consists of precisely calibrated metal strips that can be unfolded from a frame like a fan. Each metal strip is marked with its thickness. The feeler gauge is used to measure a gap size for small measurements, typically under 1 mm. When folded, the thin metal strips are well protected. The thickest metal strip that can be inserted indicates the gap width.
We offer the feeler gauge in various lengths and with different numbers of blades.
Note: Generally, the metal strips are not hardened. When using them to check a gap, do so carefully to prevent the edge from bending or compressing. A single bent blade would become largely useless, and often the entire gauge must be replaced because the metal strips are not individually replaceable. One more small pitfall: sometimes the metal strips stick together slightly, so ensure during the measurement process that you insert only a single metal strip into the gap.
