Veritas front clamp with quick adjustment
Installing a traditional tail vise is notoriously quite difficult and not for beginners, as a piece of the bench top must be cut out to integrate the tail vise into the bench. Not so with this one! The VERITAS tail vise can be relatively effortlessly planned and mounted into a new bench. Even in an existing bench that is due for restoration, the installation can take place without too much effort.
Since the base plate is symmetrical, this tail vise can be mounted on either the right or left side. It is delivered for right-side mounting; for left-side mounting, only the T-piece for the vise key and the lever for the quick adjustment need to be mounted on the other side of the vise construction.
The installation is quick: First, the base plate is screwed to the underside of the workbench. Then, the vise construction is screwed onto the mounting plate. The required screws are included. For both the bench hook rail and the wood block of the tail vise, you can use your own wood of choice.
The quick adjustment features a simple lever that allows you to engage or disengage the adjustment mechanism in the trapezoidal thread. Up to 135 kg of pressure can be effectively applied both when tightening and when spreading.
The adjustment range of the vise is a maximum of 197 mm. The base plate is made of ductile cast iron, the end plates are made of zinc die-cast, and the trapezoidal thread and guide rods are made of steel. The mounting plate requires a space of at least 432 x 165 mm on the underside of the workbench. Weight 11.6 kg
