Fine adjustment of marking gauge with knife wheel

This marking gauge with fine adjustment allows for the most precise setting.

In the image on the left, you can see three knurled screws. The large upper knurled screw made of brass loosens or fixes the entire stop unit on the steel round rod. Once the marking gauge is roughly set, tighten this screw while simultaneously holding the black middle knurled screw.

Now hold the stop with your left hand and turn the round rod with your right. The travel distance is a total of 4.8 mm. After that, tighten the stop with the stop fastening screw (at the bottom of the image labeled "Veritas").

Make sure that when turning the large brass knurled screw, the stop fastening screw is always loosened! The knife wheel can be fully recessed, allowing this marking gauge to be stored vertically.

The two blade edges must be able to move when the deflection is changed. When working with the blade holder, you should know: little deflection is suitable for fine work and broad material removal, strong deflection for high material removal and a narrow working groove. However, always consider this information in conjunction with the sharpened edge: fine edge for fine work, larger edge for coarse work. The edge angle also has an influence on the work. Please refer to the information on the edge pullers for this.
