Product information
Similar to pencils, whenever you need a marking knife, there never seems to be one at hand. That’s why Veritas offers this high-quality marking knife at a price that allows you to keep several in different spots around your workshop, ensuring that one is always within reach.
The knife is crafted from A2 steel and features a tip with a 55° angle. The sharp edges with a 25° bevel angle cut wood fibers cleanly, creating a fine incision that helps you position your saw or chisel precisely. This allows for very accurate work.
The blade is just under 0.8 mm (1/32 inch) thick, 8 mm (5/16 inch) wide, and extends about 38 mm (1-1/2 inch) beyond the handle. This makes the knife particularly suitable for the fine and precise marking needed for dovetail joints. Thanks to the dual bevels, the knife can be comfortably used by both right- and left-handed users. It also allows for working on either side of a guide, such as a square or template.
The handle is made from nylon-reinforced ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, a very durable plastic). It is shaped to fit comfortably in the hand and to provide good control over the knife. The flattened sides allow you to feel the orientation of the blade and the correct placement of your fingers. They also prevent the marking knife from rolling off the table. A cap that protects the blade from damage is included with the 168 mm (6-5/8 inch) long knife, which is made in Canada.
