- You have the choice between two different handle shapes and three sizes each. To find the right size, measure the width of your hand across the knuckles.
- If your hand is up to 75 mm wide, it’s best to choose the small handles.
- If your hand is between 75 mm and 98 mm wide, choose the medium handles.
- If your hand is wider than 98 mm, choose the large handles.
- The Veritas-style handle (standard on Veritas planes with the bevel-up design) stands almost vertically and fits well in the hand. This handle arrangement allows you to keep your forearm almost parallel to the plane sole while planing, enabling you to push the plane forward with more force.
- The traditional handle is more forward-leaning and more curved than the Veritas-style handle. It follows historical models and allows the plane to be pressed more firmly against the workpiece. Additionally, it is more comfortable to use if your workbench is relatively low.
