These guides made from anodized aluminum help you keep the saw perpendicular to the workpiece. They are particularly useful for cutting the shoulders of tenons or the edges of grooves, as the guides assist in keeping the saw straight and precise.
When held against the workpiece with one hand or clamped in place (clamps are not included), the guides provide a stop approximately 32 mm (1-1/4 inch) high that helps you execute the cut accurately. The finely machined stop surface is embedded with three rare-earth magnets (these have a higher specific energy density than conventional magnets and thus adhere much more strongly) with a diameter of 12.7 mm (1/2 inch), which are covered with low-friction plates made of PE-UHMW (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene is characterized by very good sliding properties and high abrasion resistance). The magnets ensure the saw stays in contact with the stop, while the plates ensure the saw glides smoothly along the stop.
On the underside of the guide, there are two strips that, due to their high friction, prevent the stop from slipping. Also on the underside is a T-slot that accommodates two special clamps with a clamping capacity of 51 mm (2 inches). (These are sold separately)
Suitable for a variety of hand saws! Note that for saws with a back, their cutting depth must be at least the stop height of 32 mm plus the planned cutting depth in the wood. So if you want to cut 20 mm into the wood, the saw’s cutting depth should be at least 52 mm. Therefore, back saws of the western type and Japanese kataba saws without a back, which must be held at an angle, are best suited. Fine saws generally do not have the required cutting depth.
