Product information
This 165 mm (6-1/2 inch) long and 44 mm (1-3/4 inch) wide plane is aptly referred to in English as a „chisel plane.” It features an iron that spans the entire width, allowing you to work right up to adjacent surfaces. This plane is particularly suitable for cleaning corners and angles, such as in cabinets, where it can be challenging to work with a chisel.
Since the iron can be adjusted flush with the sole, you can also use this plane to trim dowels or small inlays flush without damaging the surface. The plane body is cast from robust ductile iron. The sole and sides are precisely milled and ground, ensuring they are flat and perpendicular to each other. The large, angled knob at the rear end and the grip recesses on the sides allow for secure handling of the plane.
Four set screws hold the iron precisely in the desired lateral position. Using the large knurled knob, the iron can be finely adjusted. The plane comes with a lapped iron made of O1 steel, hardened to 58-60 HRC. The iron has a bevel angle of 20°. Together with the bed angle of 15°, this results in a cutting angle of 35°, which minimizes tear-out and allows for clean end-grain work. The plane weighs 540 g.
