The 38° toothed blade is specifically designed for challenging grain patterns with knots. The small teeth leave a serrated surface that can be smoothed with a smoothing plane or a scraper. Note that this blade only fits the Veritas low-angle smoothing plane with a blade width of 2 inches (51 mm) and no other plane!
