Adjusting plane irons can sometimes be tedious, as fine adjustments require a great deal of finesse when using a small hammer.
Specifically for this task, Holzwerken Richard Wile from Canada has developed an adjustment hammer for plane irons, which makes the precise setting of a wooden plane with a wedged iron a breeze. It will take a bit of practice, but then you can subtly position the iron with the small brass head with the slightest of changes.
To release the iron, the usual practice is to strike a button or directly on the wood of the plane body, and for this, the hammer has a second head made of sturdy, solid plastic. The plastic used visually resembles hardwood, making the hammer extremely attractive.
