With the help of these feather irons, you can now use the groove plane for both grooving and planing tongues. The irons are used in conjunction with the extension set for wide irons (see above). By exchanging the irons, you have the option to produce six different widths of tongues (the grooves can each be made with the corresponding standard irons). This allows you to work on a wide range of different thicknesses of wood with just one plane. Each iron features a depth stop and a chip deflector. The irons are suitable for both right-handed and left-handed planes. The smaller sizes of the feather irons are particularly well-suited for thinner materials, such as those used in cabinets and drawers.
