Thickness gauges are primarily used by turners to measure the thickness of bowls and vases. Of course, they are also suitable for any other hollow body. Application: Open the two legs of the thickness gauge and place them against the walls of the hollow body. Then turn the knurled screw until it stops, without pushing the two legs apart, pull them apart and remove the device from the hollow body. Now measure the distance between the two tips.
