Clamping elements or workpiece hold-downs for planing benches and workbenches have so far suffered from the disadvantage that the shaft was firmly connected to the hold-down part, and thus only suitable for one hole size. This resulted in several incompatible systems. One workbench had 3/4 inch holes, another had 20 mm holes, and then there were some exotic ones with 1-inch holes and a few more.
Bessey has now solved this problem by separating the hold-down part and the shaft. There are now clamping elements available in various designs with fixed or variable reach, with a two-component handle like those on screw clamps or with a T-handle and eccentric handle. All variants fit the separately available workbench adapters, of which there are 3 different ones with corresponding shafts for 19 mm, 20 mm, and 30 mm holes. If your workbench has any of these hole diameters, you can use all clamping elements in this series. The clamping elements are simply placed on the adapter part and secured with an internal hex screw.
The clamping elements are also available with variable reach, further increasing the range of applications. The reach is infinitely adjustable. The desired height is set with a knurled screw.
The surface-coated spindle with trapezoidal thread moves smoothly and does not jam.
